Kathmandu and Pokhara are magical places where elements of Buddhism, Hinduism, Tantrism, and Shamanism continue to harmoniously coexist. Many have referred to this land as the 'abode of the gods and goddesses.' Along with exploring the sacred geometry and geomancy of the power places, we will focus on the artistic, cultural and ritualistic elements, the supernatural symbolism and healing practices. Overall, we will have the opportunity to open doorways into alternate ways of seeing our locale and nature throughout this very special journey.
While on tour, we will:
• Explore the art and architecture (paintings, stone sculptures, bronzes, metal castings and woodcarvings) in the valley with special focus on the sacred geometry and geomancy of major power places and sites.
• Visit ancient shrines and temples dedicated to the worship of the Buddha, Tara, Vajrayogini, the Hindu pantheon of gods and goddesses: Saraswati, Shiva, Parvati, Durga, Kali, Laksmi, Vishnu and shamanic deities.
• Enjoy a spectacular mountain flight over the Himalayas while en route to Pokhara where we will spend a couple days visiting a sacred mountain lake and hiking in the Annapurna foothills.
• Receive blessings/ teachings from Buddhist Lama Chokyi Niyma Rinpoche, 'living goddesses,' yoginis and shamankas, including holy woman/ healer Kusali Devi of Kathmandu.
• Explore medieval villages and witness rituals that have been performed for centuries.
• Receive a lesson in singing bowls by a master sound healer and a sacred dance lesson by master dancer.
